  as jehovah’s witnesses, we were regularly told how awful a college education is.

  i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

  it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

  I haven't read through the entire thread so maybe someone else has made a similar comment...

  If you are asking, is Uni essential to become wealthy and successful and having fulfilment in life, then no, it's not all that.

  However, it would have been nice to have been allowed to make the choice and have parents that nurtured dreams and ambitions, because some ambitions can only grow by being formally trained.

  Witnesses are ok with the fact that they can preach something to the world, while claiming to represent God, that turns out later to be wrong.

  No punishment needed.

  But if you point out to them that they were wrong and they are now preaching a different belief, then they will punish you for demonstrating a lack of faith and most likely shun you.

  It's happening to me right now.

  having a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.

  i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.

  so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

  He goes on to tell me that he still isn't old. I get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.

  So my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

  I'm not talking about being as old as you feel, or being as old as the woman or man you're feeling. 🤔

  I think my friend is forgetting that 10 yrs goes fast and if I asked him the same question in 2029 would he still feel the same?

  so apparently, not only can people identify as men or women, regardless of reality, but they've now declared that people can identify as black or white as well!

  no word yet from rachel dolezal, who will no doubt be declared a visionary, and sadly michael jackson didn't live long enough to celebrate.. i must say, now that i am a black woman, my views on reparations have completely changed.

  at least at the moment it looks like no one is dead, but 6 injured (9:00 am pacific time 14 nov 2019).. i don't know if the school allows students to carry weapons, but many will think it would be a good idea for the students to carry concealed weapons to provide personal protection.. we shall see.. rub a dub.

  Simon, I usually agree with a lot of your comments but I think comparing drink driving to gun violence is a classic strawman argument.

  Vehicles and transportation are necessary for everyday life, guns are not, unless you are actively serving in some type of security.

  Vehicles, also are designed for safety and usually the drunk driver has no intention of killing.

  Some of you guys have mentioned what it was like in the good old days, when everyone cruised around, openly displaying weapons and no one ever got shot.

  I'm old enough to remember the exact same scenario here in Australia, guys would walk down the road in country towns with guns on their way home from shooting. Guns were everywhere, nearly everyone I knew owned a gun, especially in the country areas. They were part of our culture.

  That all changed after the worst mass shooting by a single shooter ever. It only took one, single bad event.

  If there were nearly 400 mass shootings in any other developed country in the world in a single year, the citizens of that country would be rioting in the streets for social change.

  The only countries that come close to America's gun violence are in South and Central America and war zones.

  I'm not judging, I'm not against guns, but I can't believe people will blame everything else except the fact that there is easy access to guns in the US.

  There been 366 mass shootings in the US so far this year, but remember, the US doesn't have a gun problem.

  Why is Life Expectancy in the USA So Low Compared to Other Countries?

  i was looking at the world health org.

  report and it shows the us ranks 37th in the world (tied with albania) for combined male/female life expectancy.

  the top 5 were japan, switzerland, singapore, israel and spain, all around 83 years.

  Diet and lifestyle is what usually determines a higher life expectancy from my understanding.

  More veggies, less meat, less sugar, more exercise.

  It's proven that the less you eat, the longer and healthier your life expectancy will be.
